Day 13 was a travel day to Chieti. We hopped on a bus, which the kids loved, and drove the three hours across the country. When we arrived we met family, had a large, but delicious, meal of authentic Italian food, and then had some downtime in our apartment. The kids were in bed early and had a nice long sleep.
Day 14 was spent at the beach! We were taken to a beach that has been a nature reserve, so it's not as busy and commercial as many of the beaches here. It was so beautiful. The kids loved jumping and playing in the waves, playing volleyball and soccer, relaxing in the sun and getting to know their family even more. We all came home with tans and burns, but mostly great memories. The day finished with a late meal of fresh pasta and wine. Today was really a perfect day for our anniversary.

Today I had to get up so early because we had to get to the bus stop so that we could go to a new city. When we got out of our apartment we took a taxi to the airport where the bus stop was. It took about an hour for the bus to arrive but when it arrived another bus was in its way. But when the other bus got out of the way but when I saw our bus I realized that our bus was HUGE!!! When we got on the bus, we all went on the top of the bus. When the bus started moving, we all thought that we didn't need to put our seatbelts on, but we all had to because then we heard the person who was driving the bus announced on the intercom that everybody should put on their seatbelts. It felt like it was the longest trip in the world because it was 3 hours. When we got off the bus, some of our family members were waiting for us. We got our luggage and gave it to them and put it in their cars. Then one of our family members showed us our car we would be driving around in and then drove us to Zia Rita's house. When we got there, Zia already had all the plates set out for dinner and she invited us all to come and sit down for dinner. The dinner was so good because it was homemade sausages and some cheese buns that were delicious. After dinner, everybody came to our apartment to show us around our apartment and show us our room. When we got to our apartment we were almost speechless because it was so nice. And then, everybody left so we could have showers and get ready for bed. Then everybody went to bed.
The next day we had to get up earlier because we were going to the beach for the whole entire day. When we got in our car, we drove to the beach, but there was basically no parking so I was getting frustrated when we were driving around looking for a parking spot. We finally actually found a parking spot, then we also found the tunnel underground to walk to the beach. When we got to the beach, I was pretty scared to go in the water because I thought a shark would eat me, but when I got in, the most fun thing was that there were a lot of waves I could dive into so I forgot about the sharks. I played with Dad and Julian in the waves. Then I came to lay on my towel and almost got a burn so I had to go back into the water. Once we got out of the water it was lunchtime, so we ate fish and shrimp that still had their heads and eyes and tails on them. I had none of it. Then they brought out watermelon and cantaloupe, and we all had mini pizzas and coca-cola. Once I got back in the water I only got a minute in there because everyone was going for a walk so I had to go with them. We didn't make it really far, so when we were walking back everybody walked except for me. I crawled on my hands and knees the whole way, getting wet from the tide washing in. When we got back, I went in the water for about 6 minutes and then I dried off and then Julian went to ask if he could play soccer. They said yes and needed 2 more people so Dad and I came in to. After the soccer game, we all went back in the water, and that was the last time I went in the water because I dried off after that. We packed up once everyone was dry and we went back to our cars and drove back to our apartments. We had showers and then we went over to Zia's house where we were going to have dinner. Dinner was really good like last night. After dinner, we watched some shows and went back to our apartment and got ready for bed and went to bed.

Today we had to get up early so that we could check out of our apartment on time. We took a taxi to the airport and got to our bus stop. It took about an hour for our bus to arrive! Once it got there we saw that it was HUMONGOUS!!! There were two floors and still a big space for all the people's luggage! We drove and drove and drove. For three hours! Once we got we said hi to all of our relatives and got our new apartment. It is like heaven! That is why that night was it so easy to fall asleep. The next day we woke up rushed out the door so that we could get to the beach as early as we could. Around noon Kevin finished his shift at his job and came to join us. A little while later Gabe and I decided to bury our selves. Once they were done the burying the tide decided to come upon us unbury us. Closer to dusk we played a football/soccer game. That was super fun.

Today we had to clean out the apartment and head out early so that we could go to the airport. We were taking a bus to Chieti to go see some family which was a much-needed break from all the touristy stuff. After waiting for the bus for an hour it finally arrived and the boys were so excited to sit on the top part of the bus. It was super cute. We drove for three hours and I felt sick the entire ride. Once we arrived in Chieti we went and ate lunch/dinner with our family and then went to our apartment where they showed us around the place. The apartment was amazing and the bed was super comfortable so I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. The next day we woke up and were rushed out to the beach so that we could get a parking spot. We went swimming and I did a lot of flipping around which felt amazing. At 2:00 Kevin got off work and came to join us so we had lunch when he arrived. We played some volleyball afterwards and then the boys played some soccer which was super fun to watch. Later that night we went to Rita's and had pasta for dinner and then went home and crashed. We all had burned but overall it was a good two days.
